ปลาสวาย (ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์: Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) เป็นปลาน้ำจืดชนิดหนึ่งในวงศ์ปลาสวาย (Pangasiidae) มีส่วนหัวค่อนข้างเล็ก แนวบริเวณหัวถึงครีบหลังลาดตรง ตาอยู่เสมอหรือสูงกว่ามุมปาก ปากแคบกว่าปลาบึก ที่อยู่สกุลเดียวกัน รูปร่างเพรียวแต่ป้อมสั้นในปลาขนาดใหญ่ ก้านครีบท้องมี 8–9 เส้น ครีบก้นยาว ปลาขนาดเล็กมีสีคล้ำเหลือบเงิน ด้านข้างลำตัวสีจางและมีแถบสีคล้ำตามยาว ครีบสีจาง ครีบหางมีแถบสีคล้ำตามแนวยาวทั้งตอนบนและล่าง ปลาขนาดใหญ่มีสีเทาหรือคล้ำอมน้ำตาล ด้านข้างลำตัวสีจาง มีขนาดประมาณ 50 เซนติเมตร ใหญ่สุด 1.5 เมตร
พบในแม่น้ำและลำคลองสายใหญ่ ทั่วประเทศไทย เป็นปลาที่มีความสำคัญทางเศรษฐกิจชนิดหนึ่งซึ่งมีการเพาะเลี้ยงกันมานานกว่า 50 ปี แล้ว โดยเพาะขยายพันธุ์ได้สำเร็จในปี พ.ศ. 2509 โดยถือเป็นสัตว์น้ำชนิดแรกที่กรมประมงของไทยผสมเทียมประสบความสำเร็จเป็นชนิดแรกด้วย ปลาในธรรมชาติมีฤดูวางไข่ในเดือนกรกฎาคม นิยมบริโภคโดยปรุงสดและรมควัน ในธรรมชาติมักพบชุกชุมตามอุทยานปลาหรือหน้าวัดต่าง ๆ ที่ติดริมน้ำ โดยในบางพื้นที่อาจมีปลาเทโพเข้ามาร่วมฝูงด้วย และนิยมเลี้ยงเป็นปลาสวยงาม โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งกับปลาที่สีกลายเป็นสีเผือก และจากการศึกษาล่าสุดพบว่า ในเนื้อปลาสวายนั้นมีโอเมกา 3 คิดเป็นปริมาณแล้วสูงกว่าในปลาทะเลเสียอีก โดยมีถึง 2,570 มิลลิกรัม ต่อน้ำหนัก 100 กรัม
