Seroconversion

ในสาขาวิทยาภูมิคุ้มกัน seroconversion คือการเกิดสารภูมิต้านทาน (antibodies) โดยเฉพาะ ๆ ในเลือดซึ่งเป็นการตอบสนองต่อการติดเชื้อหรือการสร้างภูมิคุ้มกัน (เช่น การฉีดวัคซีน) ในช่วงก่อน seroconversion แอนติเจนอาจตรวจพบหรือไม่พบ แต่จะไม่มีสารภูมิต้านทานโดยนิยาม ในช่วง seroconversion คือในระหว่างที่เกิดภูมิคุ้มกัน (เช่น มีการติดเชื้อหรือฉีดวัคซีน) จะมีแอนติเจนเนื่องกับเชื้อซึ่งออกจากเซลล์เข้าไปในเลือด แล้วทำให้ระบบภูมิคุ้มกันสร้างสารภูมิต้านทานเป็นการตอบสนอง แต่สารภูมิต้านทานอาจยังน้อยจนตรวจไม่เจอ แต่เมื่อผ่านระยะ seroconversion ไปแล้ว ก็จะสามารถตรวจเลือดแล้วเจอสารภูมิต้านทานสำหรับโรคนั้น ๆ ได้
