โทรจิต

โทรจิต (อังกฤษ: telepathy) เป็นการส่งข้อมูลข่าวสารจากบุคคลหนึ่งไปยังอีกบุคคลหนึ่งโดยไม่ใช้ช่องทางทางประสาทสัมผัสหรือไม่มีปฏิกิริยาทางกายเลย และทึกทักกันว่าทำได้จริง แม้มีการศึกษาค้นคว้ามากมายเพื่อยกระดับ ทำความเข้าใจ และใช้ประโยชน์ซึ่งโทรจิต แต่นักวิทยาศาสตร์เห็นพ้องต้องกันว่า โทรจิตมิใช่ปรากฏการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นจริง อนึ่ง ในระยะหลัง ๆ นี้ นักวิทยาศาสตร์ได้คิดค้นเทคโนโลยีที่เรียก "การอ่านภาพจากประสาท" (neuroimaging) ซึ่งช่วยให้อ่านใจในรูปแบบง่าย ๆ ได้

การทดลอง Ganzfeld (Ganzfeld experiment) ที่มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อแสดงให้เห็นถึงโทรจิต ได้รับการวิพากษ์วิจารณ์ว่าขาดการทำซ้ำและการควบคุมที่ไม่ดี

คำภาษาอังกฤษ "telepathy" นั้นเฟรเดริก วิลเลียม เฮนรี ไมเออส์ (Frederic William Henry Myers) นักวิชาการซึ่งก่อตั้งสมาคมวิจัยกายภาพ (Society for Psychical Research) บัญญัติขึ้นเมื่อปี 1882 และนับแต่นั้นจนปัจจุบันก็ได้รับความนิยมเป็นอันมากยิ่งกว่าถ้อยคำที่ใช้กันก่อนหน้าว่า "การถ่ายโอนความคิด" (thought-transference) เช่นเดียวกับโทรจิตเองที่เป็นหัวเรื่องยอดนิยมในบันเทิงคดียุคปัจจุบันและบันเทิงคดีแนววิทยาศาสตร์ซึ่งตัวละครบรรดาที่เป็นยอดมนุษย์และยอดวายร้ายนั้นมีความสามารถส่งโทรจิตได้กันทั้งสิ้น
