ประวัติ

ในรอว์ (2 มิถุนายน 2014) โรแมน เรนส์มีคิวเจอกับแรนดี ออร์ตัน โดยออร์ตันออกมาพร้อมกับทริปเปิลเอชที่ถือค้อนมาด้วย ทำให้เดอะชีลด์พากันไปหยิบเก้าอี้มาเตรียมไว้ ทริปเปิลเอชบอกว่าบาทิสตามันหนีไปแล้ว แต่เราก็มีแผน 2 เสมอ... ว่าแล้วรอลลินส์ก็เอาเก้าอี้ฟาดใส่เรนส์จากด้านหลัง จากนั้นก็ฟาดแอมโบรสอีกคน ปิดรายการโดยมีรอลลินส์ยืนอยู่กับแรนดี ออร์ตันและทริปเปิลเอชเป็นอันยุติบทบาทกลุ่มเดอะชีลด์ ในรอว์ (9 มิถุนายน 2014) ทริปเปิลเอชได้สั่งจัดแมตช์ไวแอ็ตต์แฟมิลีเจอกับเดอะชีลด์แบบ 3 ต่อ 3 ทว่าสมาชิกของเดอะชีลด์มีเพียง 2 คน ทริปเปิลเอชบอกว่าถ้าหาคู่ไม่ได้ก็ต้องสู้แบบ 2 ต่อ 3 คืนเดียวกัน แอมโบรสและเรนส์จับคู่กับจอห์น ซีนาชนะไวแอ็ตต์แฟมิลีไปได้ ในสแมคดาวน์ (13 มิถุนายน 2014) แอมโบรสกับเรนส์ออกมาพูดถึงเรื่องที่ออร์ตันได้เข้าร่วมมันนีอินเดอะแบงก์โดยไม่ต้องผ่านรอบคัดเลือกว่าเอาแต่ใช้เส้นไม่เลิก เรนส์บอกว่าเขากับแอมโบรสก็อยากจะเป็นแชมป์เหมือนกัน ทริปเปิลเอชโผล่มาทางจอยักษ์ และบอกว่าเสียใจด้วยนะ เหลือที่ว่างอีกแค่ที่เดียวเท่านั้น ดังนั้นจะใช้วิธีการโยนเหรียญตัดสิน ผลการโยนเหรียญคือแอมโบรสจะได้โอกาสปล้ำรอบคัดเลือกเพื่อเข้าสู่มันนีอินเดอะแบงก์ โดยเจอกับเบรย์ ไวแอ็ตต์ และเรนส์กับลูกน้องของเบรย์จะต้องโดนแบนจากข้างเวทีด้วย ส่วนเรนส์ต้องเจอกับแบด นิวส์ บาร์เร็ตต์ทันที โดยเรนส์ชนะฟาล์ว เพราะกลุ่มทรีเอ็มบีออกมาขัดจังหวะ ในแมตช์ระหว่างแอมโบรสกับไวแอ็ตต์นั้น รอลลินส์ได้มาก่อกวนทำให้แอมโบรสแพ้หมดสิทธิ์เข้าร่วม ในรอว์ (16 มิถุนายน 2014) รอลลินส์มีแมตช์เจอกับดอล์ฟ ซิกก์เลอร์ ระหว่างแมตช์แอมโบรสก็โผล่มาอัดรอลลินส์ จนกรรมการยุติแมตช์ไป หลังแมตช์ทริปเปิลเอชโผล่มาทางจอยักษ์ และสั่งให้แอมโบรสเจอกับบาร์เร็ตต์ทันที แต่รอลลินส์มาก่อกวน ทำให้แอมโบรสไปวิ่งไล่อัดรอลลินส์จนกรรมการนับ 10 แพ้ คืนเดียวกันเรนส์ได้ชนะแบทเทิลรอยัล 20 คน และได้เข้าร่วมไต่บันไดชิงแชมป์โลกเฮฟวี่เวท WWE และเป็นการแยกทีมอย่างเป็นทางการของกลุ่มเดอะชีลด์

ในซัมเมอร์สแลม (2017) แอมโบรสและรอลลินส์ได้ร่วมทีมกันคว้าแชมป์รอว์แท็กทีม WWEจากซีซาโรและเชมัส ทำให้แอมโบรสเป็นสมาชิกเดอะชีลด์คนแรกที่ได้แชมป์แกรนด์สแลมและแชมป์ทริปเปิลคราวน์ ในรอว์ (9 ตุลาคม 2017) เดอะชีลด์ร่วมมือกันจัดการกลุ่มของเดอะมิซจนราบคาบ และปิดฉากด้วยท่า Triple Powerbomb ใส่มิซก่อนยืนโพสท่าประสานกำปั้นบนเวที คืนเดียวกันเดอะชีลด์ได้ออกมาจัดการบรอน สโตรว์แมนด้วย Triple Powerbomb ใส่โต๊ะผู้บรรยาย ในทีแอลซี (2017)เดอะชีลด์ต้องปล้ำแฮนคิแคป 5 ต่อ 3 เจอกับเดอะมิซ, เชมัส, ซึซาโร, บรอน สโตรว์แมน และเคน แต่ทว่าเรนส์เกิดป่วยกระทันหัน ทำให้เคิร์ต แองเกิลมาร่วมทีมแทนเรนส์ และทีมแองเกิลคว้าชัยชนะไปได้ ในรอว์ 6 พฤศจิกายน แอมโบรสและรอลลินส์เสียแชมป์แท็กทีมคืนให้ซีซาโรและเชมัสจากการก่อกวนของเดอะนิวเดย์ สัปดาห์ต่อมาเดอะชีลด์ได้ประกาศท้าเจอกับนิวเดย์ในเซอร์ไวเวอร์ซีรีส์ (2017) ซึ่งเดอะชีลด์ชนะไปได้ คืนต่อมาในรอว์ 20 พฤศจิกายน เรนส์สามารถคว้าแชมป์อินเตอร์คอนติเนนทัลได้จากเดอะมิซ ทำให้เป็นสมาชิกเดอะชีลด์คนที่สองที่ได้แชมป์แกรนด์สแลมและแชมป์ทริปเปิลคราวน์ต่อจากแอมโบรส ในเดือนธันวาคม 2017 แอมโบรสได้รับบาดเจ็บทำให้เดอะชีลด์ต้องยุติบทบาทลง ในเรสเซิลเมเนีย ครั้งที่ 34 รอลลินส์ก็ได้คว้าแชมป์อินเตอร์จากแมตช์ 3 เส้าทำให้เป็นแชมป์แกรนด์สแลมและแชมป์ทริปเปิลคราวน์คนสุดท้ายของเดอะชีลด์

1. Rollins won the NXT Championship before the Shield formed, but continued to defend the title as a member of the group.
2. When Reigns and Rollins held the championship, it was called the WWE Tag Team Championship, but after the 2016 WWE draft in which the title became exclusive to the Raw brand, it was renamed the Raw Tag Team Championship.
3. Ambrose and Rollins won the Raw Tag Team Championship before The Shield fully reunited and as such they are not recognized as The Shield in the official title history.
