ความรุนแรงต่อสตรี เป็นลักษณะโดยรวมที่เป็นการกระทำรุนแรงเป็นหลักหรือมุ่งเจาะจงเฉพาะกับผู้หญิง บางครั้งได้รับการพิจารณาว่าเป็นอาชญากรรมที่มาจากความเกลียด ชนิดของความรุนแรงนี้มีเป้าหมายเฉพาะเพศภาวะของเหยื่อเป็นแรงจูงใจหลัก โดยชนิดของความรุนแรงได้อิงจากเพศ ซึ่งหมายความถึงการกระทำความรุนแรงมีความมุ่งมั่นต่อผู้หญิงอย่างชัดแจ้งเพราะพวกเขาเป็นผู้หญิง ปฏิญญาว่าด้วยการขจัดความรุนแรงต่อสตรีแห่งสหประชาชาติ ได้ระบุว่า:
