อ้อ (ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์ : Arundo donax ) เป็นพืชในวงศ์หญ้า มีลำต้นแข็งเป็นปล้อง ข้างในกลวง เติบโตได้ดีในดินชื้นแฉะ (ไม่ว่าจะเป็นดินน้ำจืดหรือดินน้ำกร่อย) และมีถิ่นกำเนิดในภูมิภาคตะวันออกกลาง ต่อมามีการนำไปปลูกและเกิดเองภายหลังอย่างแพร่หลายในเขตอบอุ่น เขตกึ่งร้อน และเขตร้อนของทั้งสองซีกโลก โดยเฉพาะในภูมิภาคเมดิเตอร์เรเนียน แคลิฟอร์เนีย แปซิฟิก ตะวันตก และแคริบเบียน
ชนิดพันธุ์ต่างถิ่นที่รุกราน อ้อเป็นพืชต่างถิ่นรุกราน (alien invasive species) มักขึ้นเป็นกอเบียดเสียดกันจนเบียดเบียนพื้นที่ของพืชพันธุ์ท้องถิ่น อีกทั้งยังรุกรานถิ่นที่อยู่อาศัยของสัตว์ป่า ทั้งยังติดไฟง่าย ส่งผลให้เกิดไฟป่าได้ง่ายและเพิ่มขึ้น
