บั่ว (อังกฤษ: Gall Midges หรือ Gall Gnats) อยู่ในวงศ์ Cecidomyiidae อันดับ Diptera ตัวอ่อนกินอยู่ภายในเนื้อเยื่อ พืช ทำให้พืชเจริญเติบโตผิดปกติเกิดเป็น ปมขึ้น

บั่วกำลังวางไข่บนหญ้า

เป็นแมลงที่บอบบาง ขนาดยาว 1-8 มิลลิเมตร แต่ปกติขนาดเล็กยาวเพียง 2-3 มิลลิเมตร หลายชนิดยาวน้อยกว่า 1 มิลลิเมตร ปีกมีขน มี หนวดยาว มีประมาณ 5,000 ชนิดทั่วโลก หลายชนิดมีความสำคัญมากทางเศรษฐกิจโดยเฉพาะ the Hessian fly ซึ่งเป็นศัตรูข้าวสาลี สร้างความเสียหายอย่างมากให้กับข้าวสาลี ชนิดอื่นๆที่มีความสำคัญ เช่น the lentil flower midge (Contarinia lentis), the lucerne flower midge (C. medicaginis) และ the alfalfa sprout midge (Dasineura ignorata) ซึ่งเป็นศัตรูพืชในกลุ่ม Leguminosae the Swede midge (Contarinia nasturtii) และ the brassica pod midge (Dasineura brassicae) ซึ่งเป็นศัตรูผักในกลุ่ม Cruciferae the pear midge (Contarinia pyrivora) the raspberry cane midge (Resseliella theobaldi) เป็นศัตรูของผลไม้ และ the rosette gall midge (Rhopalomyia solidaginis) เป็นศัตรูของก้าน goldenrod เป็นต้น

อีกหลายชนิดเป็นศัตรูธรรมชาติต่อแมลงศัตรูพืชอื่นๆ ตัวอ่อนของชนิดเหล่านี้เป็น ตัวห้ำ และบางชนิดเป็น ตัวเบียน โดยตัวห้ำมักกินเพลี้ยอ่อน และ ไรแมงมุม เป็นหลัก และอาจกิน เพลี้ยแป้ง เพลี้ยหอย แมลงหวี่ขาว เพลี้ยไฟ ตลอดจนไข่ของแมลงอื่น และไร เนื่องจาก ตัวอ่อน มีขนาดเล็กมากไม่สามารถเคลื่อนที่เป็นระยะทางไกลได้ ดังนั้นตัวเต็มวัยจะวางไข่เฉพาะในที่ๆมีเหยื่อจำนวนมาก และมักจะพบในช่วงที่มีแมลงศัตรูพืชระบาด ชนิด Aphidoletes aphidomyza เป็นส่วนประกอบที่สำคัญของโปรแกรม การควบคุมโดยชีวินทรีย์ สำหรับโรงเรือน และถูกขายกันอย่างแพร่หลายในประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา

บั่วมีการสืบพันธุ์แบบ paedogenesis คือระยะตัวอ่อนสามารถสืบพันธุ์ได้ก่อนที่จะเป็นตัวเต็มวัย
