ปาตาโกเนีย
ปาตาโกเนีย (Patagonia) เป็นภูมิภาคที่ตั้งอยู่ปลายใต้สุดของทวีปอเมริกาใต้ ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ในประเทศอาร์เจนตินาและชิลี ประกอบด้วยบริเวณทางใต้ของเทือกเขาแอนดีส ไปถึงทางตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ จนถึงมหาสมุทรแปซิฟิก และส่วนตะวันออกของเทือกเขา ไปถึงหุบเขาตามแม่น้ำโคโลราโด ไปทางใต้จนถึงเมืองการ์เมนเดปาตาโกเนส บริเวณมหาสมุทรแอตแลนติก ส่วนทางตะวันตกรวมถึงเมืองบัลดีเบียไปจนถึงกลุ่มเกาะเตียร์ราเดลฟวยโก

คำว่า ปาตาโกเนีย มาจากคำว่า ปาตากอน (patagón) ใช้โดยเฟอร์ดินานด์ มาเจลลัน ในปี ค.ศ. 1520 เพื่ออธิบายถึงคนพื้นเมือง ในความหมายของคณะเดินทาง ที่มีลักษณะตัวใหญ่ เชื่อว่า ชาวปาตากอน หรือ เตอวยล์เช มีความสูงเฉลี่ย 180 ซม. (~5′11″) เมื่อเทียบกับชาวยุโรปขณะนั้นที่มีความสูง 155 ซม. (~5′1″)
ในอาร์เจนตินา ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ในจังหวัดเนวเกน จังหวัดรีโอเนโกร จังหวัดชูบุต จังหวัดซานตากรุซ รวมถึงกลุ่มเกาะเตียร์ราเดลฟวยโก และทางใต้สุดของจังหวัดบัวโนสไอเรส (ปาตาโกเนส) นอกจากนั้นยังรวมถึงจังหวัดลาปัมปา
ในชิลี ครอบคลุมบริเวณ บัลดีเบีย ยันกีอวย แคว้นไอย์เซน และแคว้นมากายาเนสและลาอันตาร์ตีกาชีเลนา รวมถึงฝั่งตะวันตกของเตียร์ราเดลฟวยโก และแหลมฮอร์น และจังหวัดปาเลนา ในแคว้นโลสลาโกส
