ภาง

ภาง (IAST: Bhāṅg) เป็นใบกัญชาสำหรับรับประทาน มีที่มาจากอนุทวีปอินเดีย มีปรากฏการใช้เป็นส่วนผสมของอาหารและเครื่องดื่มมาตั้งแต่ 1000 ปีก่อนคริสต์กาลในอินเดียโบราณ ตามธรรมเนียมแล้วนิยมแจกจ่ายภางกันในช่วงเทศกาลมหาศิวราตรีและโหลี นิยมนำภางมาผสมกับเครื่องดื่มลัสซี กับทานดาอี

กราเซีย เด ออร์ตา แพทย์ชาวยิวโปรตุเกสที่อาศัยในกัว ได้เขียนบันทึกเกี่ยวกับ bangue อย่างละเอียดไว้ในหนังสือ Colóquios dos simples e drogas da India (1563) ของเขา ในนี้เขายังได้เขียนถึงการใช้ภางเพื่อประโยชน์เชิงนันทนาการโดยทั้ง บะฮาดูร ชาห์ แห่งคุชราต และชาวโปรตุเกสหลายคน ในบันทึกเขายังเขียนปฏิเสธไว้อย่างเด็ดขาดว่าพืชอินเดียที่นำมาใช้ผลิต bangue นั้นเป็นพืชคนละชนิดกับ European hemp plant (alcanave)

ใบกัญชาจะถูกนำมาตำด้วยครกจนมีลักษณะเป็นเหมือนเนื้อน้ำพริก ซึ่งนำมาใส่อาหารได้ ในเครื่องดื่มจะนำไปผสมนมและกรอง ในมถุรา สามารถพบภางในรูป ตันดาอี และลัสซี นอกจากนี้ยังมีรูปแบบภางที่นำไปผสมกับฆีและน้ำตาล ได้เป็นหัลวาสีม่วง หรือนำมาปั้นเป็นก้อนเคี้ยวหนึบเล็ก ๆ ที่เรีกยว่า goli (แปลว่าเม็ดยา) ส่วนภางในรูป ชัตนีย์ ยังสามารถพบได้ในอาหารกูมาโอนีของอุตตรขัณฑ์

วัฒนธรรม

ภางเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของธรรมเนียมฮินดูโบราณ และในธรรมเนียมของอนุทวีปอินเดีย ในแถบชนทบทของอินเดียยังคงใช้ภางหรือกัญชาในฐานะยา เชื่อกันว่าหากบริโภคในปริมาณที่เหมาะสมจะช่วยรักษาไข้, ท้องร่วงบิด และ ลมแดด, ใช้ขับเสลด, ช่วยย่อย, เพิ่มความอยากอาหาร, รักษาความผิดปกติในการพูด และ ช่วยให้ร่างกายตื่นตัวดี

สถานะทางกฎหมาย
