ภาษาอาฟรีกานส์
ภาษาอาฟรีกานส์ (อาฟรีกานส์: Afrikaans) เป็นภาษาในกลุ่มฟรังโคเนียล่าง มีเค้าโครงมาจากภาษาดัตช์ พูดในประเทศแอฟริกาใต้และนามิเบีย เกิดจากการผสมผสานของสำเนียงภาษาดัตช์ที่มีต้นกำเนิดจากทางตอนใต้ของฮอลแลนด์ ซึ้งใช้พูดกันในหมู่ผู้ตั้งถิ่นฐานชาวดัตช์ที่เข้ามาอยู่ในบริเวณที่ปัจจุบันเป็นแอฟริกาใต้ ตั้งแต่ศตวรรษที่ 18 จึงถือเป็นภาษาลูกของดัตช์ โดยมีคำศัพท์ราว 90-95% มาจากภาษาดัตช์ แต่ภายหลังก็รับเอาคำจากภาษาอังกฤษ และภาษาฝรั่งเศสเข้ามาด้วย ความแตกต่างจากภาษาดัตช์โดยทั่วไปจำกัดอยู่แค่ในเรื่องของการเปลี่ยนรูปของคำ และไวยากรณ์ ดังนั้นผู้พูดภษาอาฟรีกานส์ และภาษาดัตช์จึงสามารถเข้าใจกันได้ดี
