ประวัติ

เพลงนี้เดิมขับร้องกันทั่วไปมาตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 1640 ต่อมาในปี ค.ศ. 1892 ฟรันแซ็สก์ อะลิโอ (Francesc Alió) ปรับปรุงทำนองให้เป็นมาตรฐาน ส่วนเนื้อร้องฉบับปัจจุบันนั้น อะมิลี กวัญญาเบ็นส์ (Emili Guanyavents) เขียนขึ้น และส่งประกวดจนได้รางวัลชนะเลิศเมื่อปี 1899

เนื้อหาของเพลงว่าด้วยการลุกฮือของชาวนาชาวไร่เมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1640 ที่เรียกว่า กอร์ปุสดาซัง (Corpus de Sang) มีความหมายตรงตัวว่า "ก้อนโลหิต" และเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของสงครามสามสิบปีระหว่างสเปน อังกฤษ ฝรั่งเศส และออสเตรีย จนนำไปสู่การก่อการกำเริบของชาวกาตาลุญญาเมื่อปี 1640 เพื่อต่อต้านเคานต์ดุ๊กแห่งโอลิบาเรส (Count-Duke of Olivares) นายกรัฐมนตรีในพระเจ้าฟิลิปที่ 4 แห่งสเปน
