ปัจจุบันมหาวิทยาลัยคีวชูมี Incorporation ทำให้มีความคล่องตัวทางการบริหารการเงิน แต่ก็ยังคงอยู่ภายใต้ Japanese Ministry of Education (Monbukagakusho, or Monkasho) ในบางด้าน

มหาวิทยาลัยมีนักศึกษาต่างชาติลงทะเบียนเรียน 1,292 คน (1 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2551) จัดเป็น 1 ใน 3 มหาวิทยาลัยที่นักศึกษาต่างชาติต้องการเข้าศึกษามากที่สุด (ถัดจากมหาวิทยาลัยโตเกียวและมหาวิทยาลัยโอซากา)
