อารยธรรมไมซีนี

อารยธรรมไมซีนี (Mycenaean civilization) มาจากภาษากรีกโบราณ: (Μυκῆναι Mykēnai, มิเคไน หรือ Μυκήνη Mykēnē, มิเคเน่) เป็นวัฒนธรรมอีเจียนในช่วงปลายสมัยเฮลลาดิค (ยุคสำริด) เจริญอยู่ระหว่างปี 1650 จนถึงปี 1100 ก่อนคริสตกาล อารยธรรมไมซีนีเป็นอารยธรรมแรกที่แสดงความก้าวหน้าในระดับสูงบนแผ่นดินใหญ่ของกรีซ โดยมีจุดเด่นที่การสร้างพระราชวังที่มีลักษณะเป็นป้อมปราการ เริ่มมีการจัดตั้งชุมชนเมือง การสร้างงานศิลปะเครื่องปั้นดินเผารูปเขียนสี และระบบการเขียน ซึ่งปรากฏอยู่ในจารึกแผ่นดินเหนียวไลเนียร์บี อันเป็นหลักฐานทางตัวอักษรที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดในภาษากรีก

ชาวไมซีเนียนมีนวัตกรรมหลายอย่างทั้งในทางวิศวกรรม สถาปัตยกรรม และทางการทหาร และมีการเดินทางค้าขายไปทั่วแถบเมดิเตอร์เรเนียน ศาสนาของไมซีนีมีเทพเจ้าหลายองค์ เช่นเดียวกับเทพเจ้าในเทวสภาโอลิมปัส สังคมของชาวกรีกในยุคไมซีนีเป็นสังคมที่นักรบชาติกำเนิดสูงมีบทบาทหลัก และประกอบไปด้วยเครือข่ายรัฐพระราชวังที่มีระบบของลำดับชั้นทางปกครอง ความสัมพันธ์ทางสังคม และทางเศรษฐกิจที่เข้มงวด ผู้ปกครองสูงสุดในสังคมเป็นกษัตริย์ ซึ่งเรียกว่า อะนักซ์ (wanak)
