อาหารขยะ

อาหารขยะ (อังกฤษ: junk food) เป็นคำใช้กับอาหารที่มีแคลอรีจากน้ำตาลหรือไขมันสูง โดยมีโปรตีน วิตามินหรือเกลือแร่ต่ำ การใช้คำนี้ส่อว่า อาหารนั้น ๆ มี "คุณค่าทางโภชนาการ" ต่ำและมีไขมัน น้ำตาล เกลือและแคลอรีมากเกิน

แม้ถูกตีตราว่าเป็น "ขยะ" แต่อาหารเหล่านี้ปกติไม่มีผลต่อสุขภาพในทันที และโดยรวมแล้วปลอดภัยเมื่อรวมกับอาหารที่มีสมดุลดี ทว่า ความกังวลเกี่ยวกับผลเสียต่อสุขภาพอันเกิดจาการบริโภคอาหารที่เน้น "อาหารขยะ" อย่างหนักส่งผลให้มีการรณรงค์สร้างความตระหนักทางสาธารณสุข และการจำกัดการโฆษณาและการขายอาหารขยะในหลายประเทศ
