เลส พอล (อังกฤษ: Lester William Polsfuss; 9 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2458 – 13 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2552) นักประดิษฐ์ นักดนตรี และนักแต่งเพลงชาวอเมริกัน เป็นผู้ริเริ่มประดิษฐ์กีตาร์ไฟฟ้าแบบตัวถังทึบที่สามารถ “ทำให้เสียงแบบเพลงร็อคแอนด์โรลเป็นไปได้” เลส พอลได้รับเกียรติเป็นผู้ริเริ่มด้านนวัตกรรมการอัดเสียงเพลงแบบต่างๆ รวมถึงการอัดเสียงทับซ้อน (Overdubbing) หรือ “การอัดเสียงทับเสียง” (Sound on sound) เสียงประกอบ (Sound effect) เสียงเหลื่อม (Delay effect) และการอัดเสียงแบบลู่อเนก (Multitrack recording)

ชีวิตช่วงต้น

เลส พอล เกิดที่เมืองวูกีชา ในรัฐวิสคอนซิน เป็นบุตรของจอร์จ และ เอเวอลีน โพลส์ฟัส เชื้อสายเยอรมัน มารดาของพอลเป็นญาติห่างๆ กับผู้ก่อตั้งบริษัทผลิตเบียร์ (Valentin Blatz Brewing Company) บริษัทผลิตรถยนต์ พ่อและแม่หย่าจากกันเสียตั้งแต่พอลยังอยู่ในวัยเด็ก. แม่ของพอลได้ปรับชื่อสกุลแบบชาวปรัสเซียให้ง่ายขึ้นเป็น “Polsfuss” ตั้งก่อนที่พอลจะใช้ชื่อ เลส พอลบนเวทีการแสดง พอลมีชื่อเล่นอีกชื่อว่า “แดงร้อนแดง” (Red Hot Red) และ "รูห์บาบแดง" (Rhubarb Red)

พอลแต่งงานกับเวอร์จิเนีย เว็บบ์ เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2481 มีบุตรด้วยกัน 2 คนแต่หย่าขาดจากกันเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2492 และแต่งงานกับฟอร์ดในปีต่อมา หลังจากมีบุตรด้วยกัน 1 คนก็ได้หย่าจากกันเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2506

การถึงแก่กรรม

เลส พอลถึงแก่กรรมด้วยโรคปอดอักเสบแทรกที่โรงพยาบาลไวท์เพลน นิวยอร์ก เมื่อวันที่ 13 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2552 ท่ามกลางญาติและเพื่อนฝูงรายล้อมข้างเตียง ทนายของพอลแถลงข่าวว่า พอล ได้เข้าๆ ออกๆ โรงพยาบาลเนื่องจากการเจ็บป่วย
