โลงหิน (ภาษาอังกฤษ : Sarcophagus ) หมายถึงที่บรรจุศพที่ส่วนใหญ่แกะหรือตัดจากหิน คำว่า “sarcophagus” มาจากภาษากรีก “σαρξ sarx” ที่แปลว่า “เนี้อสด” และ “φαγειν phagein” ที่แปลว่า “กิน” เมื่อรวมกันเป็น “sarkophagus” จึงหมายถึง “กินเนื้อสด” จากวลี “lithos sarkophagos (λιθος σαρκοφάγος)” กลายมาหมายถึงหินปูน ที่เชื่อว่าสามารถทำให้ศพที่บรรจุไว้เน่าสลายไปได้
