เพิงหินภีมเพฏกา

หมู่เพิงหินภีมเพฏกา (อังกฤษ: Bhimbetka rock shelters) เป็นแหล่งโบราณคดีในรัฐมัธยประเทศ ประเทศอินเดีย ซึ่งมาจากยุคสมัยก่อนประวัติศาสตร์ในยุคพาเลโอลิธิก ถึง เมโซลิธิก และยุคประวัติศาสตร์ เพิงหินนี้เป็นหลักฐานถึงการมีอยูของมนุษย์ที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดในอินเดีย และเป็นหลักฐานของยุคหินปรากฏ เริ่มตั้งแต่ยุคเอชูเลียน แหล่งโบราณคดีนี้ได้รับสถานะแหล่งมรดกโลกโดยยูเนสโก โดยประกอบด้วยเพิงหินจำนวน 750 แห่ง กระจายในพื้นที่กว้างกว่า 10 km (6.2 mi) ในอำเภอไรเสน เพิงหินบางส่วนมีอายุเก่าแก่กว่า 100,000 ปี

เพิงหินบางส่วนปรากฏหลักฐานจิตรกรรมถ้ำ ชิ้นที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดนั้นอายุราว 10,000 ปี (ตั้งแต่ราว 8,000 ปี ก่อน ค.ศ.) ตรงกับยุคเมโซลิธิกของอินเดีย ภาพเขียนที่ปรากฏนั้นเป็นรูปคนและสัตว์ นอกจากนี้ยังพบภาพเขียนจากยุคก่อนประวัติศาสตร์สมัยอื่น ๆ เรื่อยมาจนถึงยุคกลาง และมีปรากฏในเพิงหินเดี่ยว ๆ พบภาพวาดจาง ๆ แสดงภาพมนุษย์ถือสามง่ามกำลังเต้นระบำ นักโบราณคดี วี เอส วกันการ์ตั้งชื่อเล่นให้กับภาพเขียนนี้ว่า "นาฏราช" และประมาณว่าภาพเขียนสีในราว 100 เพิงหินได้จางหายไปหมดแล้ว งานศิลปะบนหินเหล่านี้เก่าแก่ที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งในอินเดีย และหมู่เพิงหินเหล่านี้ถือได้ว่าเป็นหนึ่งในกลุ่มแหล่งโบราณคดียุคก่อนประวัติศาสตร์ที่ใหญ่ที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งในอินเดียเช่นกัน
