การไม่ฆ่า

การไม่ฆ่า (อังกฤษ: Nonkilling) หมายถึง การปราศจากการเอาชีวิต การขู่ฆ่า และสถานการณ์เอื้ออำนวยให้เกิดการฆ่าในสังคมมนุษยชาติ ถึงแม้ว่าการใช้คำนี้ในทางวิชาการส่วนมากจะเน้นในความหมายของการไม่ฆ่ามนุษย์ ในบางกรณีความหมายย่อมครอบคลุมถึงการไม่ฆ่าสัตว์และสิ่งมีชีวิตอื่นๆในทุกรูปแบบ ในที่นี้ความหมายชี้บ่งไปถึงการไม่ฆ่าสัตว์ตัดชีวิตซึ่งใช้มาแต่ดั้งเดิมในพุทธธรรม จะเห็นได้จากศีลข้อแรกในเบญจศีล และคำสอนทำนองเดียวกันในศาสนาสากลอื่นๆ “การไม่ฆ่า” มีความหมายสำคัญเด่นชัดขึ้นเมื่อปรากฏใช้เร็วๆนี้ใน “กฎบัตรเพื่อโลกที่ปราศจากการใช้พลการความรุนแรง” ซึ่งได้รับการรับรองจากการประชุมโลกครั้งที่ ๘ ของกลุ่มผู้มีเกียรติได้รับรางวัลโนเบลสาขาสันติภาพ
