นกเป็ดผีคอดำ (อังกฤษ: Black-necked Grebe, Eared Grebe) เป็นนกน้ำในวงศ์นกเป็ดผี พบในทุทวีปยกเว้นทวีปออสเตรเลียและแอนตาร์กติกา
อนุกรมวิธาน
มีด้วยกัน 3 ชนิดย่อย:
- P. n. nigricollis พบตั้งแต่ยุโรปตะวันตกถึงเอเชียตะวันตก (ฤดูหนาวพบทางใต้และตะวันตก), เอเชียตะวันออกและเอเชียกลาง, และในแอฟริกาตะวันออก
- P. n. gurneyi พบในแอฟริกาใต้
- P. n. californicus พบตั้งแต่ทางตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ของแคนนาดาถึงทางตะวันตกของสหรัฐ ฤดูหนาวพบไกลไปถึงทางใต้ของประเทศกัวเตมาลา
ลักษณะ
นกเป็ดผีคอดำมีขนาดใหญ่กว่านกเป็ดผีเล็ก ลำตัวยาว 28-34 ซม. ตาสีแดง ลำตัวสีขาว หน้าและหลังเป็นสีเทาเข้ม แต่ในช่วงฤดูผสมพันธุ์จะมีหัว หลัง และคอเป็นสีดำสนิท ด้านข้างไปจนถึงด้านท้ายของลำตัวเป็นสีน้ำตาลแดง และมีขนบริเวณแก้มและหูเป็นสีเหลือง
