มาตราทองคำ (อังกฤษ: gold standard) เป็นระบบเงินตราซึ่งหน่วยวัดมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจมาตรายึดกับทองคำปริมาณคงที่หนึ่ง มาตราทองคำใช้เป็นพื้นฐานของระบบเงินตราระหว่างประเทศตั้งแต่คริสต์ทศวรรษ 1870 ถึงต้นคริสต์ทศวรรษ 1920 และตั้งแต่ปลายคริสต์ทศวรรษ 1920 ถึงปี 1932 ตลอดจนตั้งแต่ปี 1944 ถึง 1971 เมื่อสหรัฐเลิกการให้แปลงเงินดอลลาร์สหรัฐกับทองคำ ซึ่งเป็นการยุติระบบเบรตตันวูดส์ ทั้งนี้ หลายรัฐยังมีทองคำสำรองปริมาณพอสมควร

ในอดีต มาตราเงินและระบบโลหะสองชนิด (bimetallism) ใช้กันแพร่หลายกว่ามาตราทองคำ การเปลี่ยนมาใช้มาตราทองคำเป็นระบบเงินตราต่างประเทศล้วนเป็นอุบัติเหตุ ความผิดปกติของเครือข่าย และผลจากสถานการณในอดีต (path dependency) บริเตนใหญ่ใช้มาตราทองคำโดยพฤตินัยจากอุบัติเหตุในปี 1717 เมื่อเซอร์ไอแซก นิวตัน ซึ่งขณะนั้นเป็นหัวหน้าโรงกษาปณ์หลวง ตั้งอัตราแลกเปลี่ยนเงินเป็นทองคำต่ำเกินไป ทำให้เหรียญเงินหมดไปจากระบบ เมื่อบริเตนใหญ่กลายเป็นมหาอำนาจทางการเงินและพาณิชย์ในคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 19 รัฐอื่นจึงเริ่มรับระบบการเงินของบริเตนไปใช้ด้วยมากขึ้น ๆ
