คริส เบนวา

คริสโตเฟอร์ ไมเคิล เบนวา (อังกฤษ: Christopher Michael Benoit) หรือ คริส เบนวา (21 พฤษภาคม ค.ศ. 1967 - 24 มิถุนายน ค.ศ. 2007) นักมวยปล้ำอาชีพชาวแคนาดา สังกัดสมาคม ดับเบิลยูดับเบิลยูอี เป็นอดีตแชมป์โลก 2 สมัย, แชมป์โลก WCW 1 สมัย และ แชมป์โลกเฮฟวี่เวท 1 สมัย เป็นนักมวยปล้ำชนิดเลือกชอบใช้ความรุนแรง แต่ก็อยู่ฝ่ายธรรมะ เป็นลูกศิษย์ของ สตู ฮาร์ต ถือว่าตัวของเขาอาจจะแข็งแกร่งไปพอสมควรเลยก็ว่าได้ ปัจจุบันได้เสียชีวิตลงแล้วด้วยวัย 40 ปี

ประวัติ

ในช่วงที่เค้าปล้ำอยู่ที่ญี่ปุ่นและ Mexico เค้าได้ใช้ชื่อว่า Pegasus Kid (คำว่า “Kid” ต่อท้าย ได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงความชื่นชอบในตัว Dynamite kid นักมวยปล้ำหนึ่งในดวงใจของ Benoit อย่างเห็นได้ชัด) กับบุคลิกนักมวยปล้ำสวมหน้ากากเหมือนดั่ง Rey JR. Cup ได้ในปี 1994

Chris Benoit ได้ข้ามน้ำ ข้ามทะเล มาหาความท้าทายการปล้ำใหม่ ๆ ที่ดินแดนแห่งการแสวงหาโอกาสอย่าง “สหรัฐอเมริกา” โดยในช่วงแรก ๆ Benoit ได้เข้า ๆ ออก ๆ อยู่ที่สมาคม WCW เป็นครั้งเป็นคราว จนกระทั่ง ECW ได้เริ่มเห็นแววโคตรเทพของ Benoit จากการขึ้นปลืที่สมาคมอินดี้และสมาคม WCW ECW จึงตกลงตัดสินใจจับ Benoit เซ็นต์สัญญาให้เป็นหนึ่งในนักมวยปล้ำดางรุ่งของสมาคม ECW ในปี 1994 ช่วงเวลาที่ Benoit อยู่ที่สมาคม ECW นี้ ก็ได้ทำให้เค้าได้ค้นพบนิยามฉายาใหม่ที่แสนคลาสสิคอย่าง The Canadian Cripper จากแมตท์ที่เค้าเจอกับ Sabu ในปี 1994

Benoit ได้รับการจัดอันดับจากทาง PWI ให้เป็นนักมวยปล้ำยอดเยี่ยมที่สุดแห่งปี เรียกได้ว่าในปี 2004 ถือเป็นปีทองสำคัญที่สุดในชีวิตการเป็นนักมวยปล้ำทั้งชีวิตของ Benoit เลยทีเดียว แต่ทว่าหลังจากที่เค้าเสียแชมป์ให้ แรนดี ออร์ตัน ใน Summerslam ปี 2004 Benoit ก็เริ่มเข้าสู่ช่วงฟอร์มตกอย่างรุนแรง ช่วงชีวิตของเค้าเมื่อเคยอยู่ในจุดสูงสุดก็ต้องย่อมมาสู่จุดต่ำสุด Benoit ในช่วงระยะสุดท้ายในชีวิตการปล้ำของเค้า หลายต่อหลายครั้งกลับเป็นได้แค่บันไดให้รุ่นน้องไต่เต้าเท่านั้นเอง ถึงแม้นว่า Benoit จะสามารถนำเข็มขัดแชมป์ยูเอส มาครองได้เป็นครั้งคราว แต่ถ้าให้พูดถึงประเด็นเรื่องที่เค้าจะได้กลับมาเป็นแชมป์โลก (รอว์/สแมคดาวน์) อีกครั้งนั้น มันกลับเป็นเรื่องที่ยากยิ่งในมุมมองของแฟนๆ และทีมงานเขียนบทของ WWE

การเสียชีวิต

เบนวาได้เสียชีวิตลงแล้ว เมื่อวันที่ 24 มิถุนายน ค.ศ. 2007 โดยฆ่าภรรยา (แนนซี เบนวา) และลูกชาย (แดเนียล เบนวา) ต่อมาก็ผูกคอฆ่าตัวตายตาม

1. Benoit's reign with the championship is not recognized by WWE, who does not recognize any reign prior to December 1997.
2. After Benoit left WCW for the WWF, WCW refused to acknowledge Benoit's victory as an official title reign, and Benoit's title reign was not listed in the title lineage at WCW.com. However, the WWF recognized Benoit's title win, and Benoit's title reign is still listed in the title lineage at WWE.com.
3. Benoit underwent a special recall election in 2008 due to the double murder-suicide of his wife and son. The recall was supported by a majority of 53.6% of voters, but was below the 60% threshold necessary to remove him.
