ทฤษฎีสมคบคิด

ทฤษฎีสมคบคิด หรือ ลัทธิการกบฏ (อังกฤษ: conspiracy theory) คือ เรื่องเล่า บทความที่สร้างขึ้นมาจากความคิดของคน หรือกลุ่มคน โดยนำเหตุการณ์ต่าง ๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นมาปะติดปะต่อเข้าด้วยกัน ซึ่งอาจมีวัตถุประสงค์ซ่อนเร้นอื่น ๆ เพื่อให้ประโยชน์/ให้โทษต่อบุคคลหรือกลุ่มบุคคลหนึ่งใด หรืออธิบายเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้น ลักษณะของทฤษฎีสมคบคิดโดยทั่วไปมีข้อเท็จจริงประกอบอยู่เพียงเล็กน้อย หรือส่วนหนึ่ง เพียงเพื่อเสริมให้เกิดความน่าเชื่อถือว่ามีหลักฐานสนับสนุนที่ดูเหมือนเกี่ยวข้องกันเท่านั้น อาจมีเหตุผลสนับสนุนจากความเชื่อส่วนบุคคล ความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับทางศาสนา การเมือง หรือวัฒนธรรมที่แตกต่างไป เรื่องเหล่านี้นักวิชาการจะไม่ใช้อ้างอิง ผู้อ่านควรใช้วิจารณญาณก่อนที่จะเชื่อเรื่องนั้น ๆ สหรัฐมีหน่วยงานที่ดูแลและกลั่นกรองเรื่องเหล่านี้โดยเฉพาะ
