พรรคเสรีประชาธิปไตย (สหราชอาณาจักร)

พรรคเสรีประชาธิปไตย (อังกฤษ: The Liberal Democrats) (ชื่อย่อ: Lib Dems) เป็นพรรคการเมืองแนว เสรีนิยม ใน สหราชอาณาจักร โดยมีที่นั่งสมาชิกในสภาสามัญชนอยู่ 11 คน มีสมาชิกในสภาขุนนางอยู่ 94 คน โดยเคยร่วมรัฐบาลผสมร่วมกับ พรรคอนุรักษนิยม ในปี 2553 ถึง 2558

การเมืองสหราชอาณาจักร รายชื่อพรรคการเมือง การเลือกตั้ง

โดยมีที่มาจากการยุบรวมพรรคระหว่าง พรรคเสรีนิยม ซึ่งมีบทบาททางการเมืองในช่วงคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 18 ในนามพรรควิกส์ กับ พรรคสังคมนิยมประชาธิปไตย (SDP) ที่แยกตัวออกมาจาก พรรคแรงงาน โดยรวมตัวกันในปี 2531 โดยเป็นพรรคขนาดกลางค่อนใหญ่อันดับสามในการเมืองของสหราชอาณาจักร ก่อนที่ในปี 2553 จะมีบทบาทสำคัญในการเข้าร่วมรัฐบาลผสม โดยที่ นิค เคล็ก หัวหน้าพรรคในเวลานั้น ได้เจรจาเข้าร่วมเป็นรัฐบาลร่วมกัน กับ เดวิด แคเมอรอน โดยที่ภายหลัง เคล็ก ได้รับตำแหน่งเป็น รองนายกรัฐมนตรี ก่อนการเลือกตั้งในปี 2558 พรรคจะสูญเสียที่นั่งมากถึง 49 ที่นั่ง จาก 57 ที่นั่งในการเลือกตั้งเมื่อปี 2553

จุดยืนของพรรคนั้น จะค่อนไปทางสายกลาง ในการเมืองสหราชอาณาจักร แต่แนวทางและอุดมการณ์พรรคนั้น จะเน้นไปที่ เสรีนิยม และ ประชาธิปไตยสังคมนิยม

ฐานเสียงหลักของพรรคนั้นส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นชนชั้นกลาง และ มีการศึกษาดี ด้านพื้นที่ฐานเสียงหลัก จะอยู่ทางสกอตแลนด์ตอนเหนือ, ตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ของลอนดอนและอังกฤษ รวมไปถึง ตอนกลางของเวลส์ และมีพันธมิตรร่วมในไอร์แลนด์เหนือ คือ พรรคแนวร่วมแห่งไอร์แลนด์เหนือ ขณะเดียวกันก็ได้เข้าร่วมในองค์การภาคีการเมืองระหว่างประเทศ อย่าง ลีเบอร์รัล อินเตอร์เนชั่นเนล (ซึ่งมี พรรคประชาธิปัตย์ ของไทย เข้าร่วมเป็นสมาชิก) รวมไปถึง ภาคีพันธมิตรแห่งเสรีนิยมและประชาธิปไตยแห่งยุโรป ในรัฐสภายุโรปอีกด้วย
