หมัด (อังกฤษ: Flea) จัดอยู่ในประเภทสัตว์ไม่มีกระดูกสันหลัง อยู่ในไฟลัมอาร์โธรพอด เป็นแมลงที่ไม่มีปีกขนาดเล็ก ซึ่งมีขนาดความยาวตลอดลำตัวราว 2-2.5 มิลลิเมตร ลำตัวด้านข้างแบน มีขาคู่หลังยาวใช้สำหรับการกระโดด ลำตัวเป็นปล้อง และมีหัวขนาดใหญ่

หมัดถือได้ว่าเป็นปรสิตสำหรับคน และสัตว์เลี้ยง หมัดเมื่อโตตัวเต็มวัยจะวางไข่ในบริเวณขนของสัตว์ หรือ บริเวณที่สัตว์นอนอยู่ โดยวางไข่ครั้งละ 3-18 ฟอง ซึ่งตลอดช่วงอายุของตัวเมียจะวางไข่ได้หลายร้อยฟอง

ช่วงระยะการเป็นตัวอ่อนจะกินเวลาประมาณ 9-15 วัน แล้วจึงกลายเป็นดักแด้ ก่อนที่จะเข้าสู่ช่วงเต็มวัย ช่วงชีวิตของหมัดจากไข่จนเติบโตเต็มวัยจะอยู่ที่ประมาณ 18 วันไปจนถึงหลายเดือน
