เอ็มทีวีวิดีโอมิวสิกอะวอดส์ 2009 (อังกฤษ: 2009 MTV Video Music Awards) จัดขึ้นที่ เรดิโอซิตี้มิวสิกฮอลล์ ในนครนิวยอร์ก วิดีโอที่ได้รับเสนอชื่อเข้ารับรางวัลได้ประกาศชื่อไปเมื่อวันที่ 4 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2552 โดยผู้ที่มีรางวัลเสนอชื่อเข้ารับรางวัลมากที่สุดคือ บียอนเซ่ และเลดี้ กาก้า ด้วยการเสนอชื่อเข้ารับรางวัลถึง 9 รางวัลด้วยกันทั้งคู่ ตามมาด้วยบริตนีย์ สเปียรส์ ด้วยการเสนอชื่อ 7 รางวัล และโคลด์เพลย์, เอ็มมิเน็ม, คอนเย เวสต์ ได้รับเสนอชื่อ 4 รางวัลด้วยกันทั้งหมด
