Epiplatys เป็นสกุลของปลาน้ำจืดจำพวกปลาคิลลี่ฟิช ในวงศ์ Nothobranchiidae
คำว่า Epiplatys มาจากภาษากรีกคำว่า ἐπί (epí) หมายถึง "ยอด" หรือ "อยู่บน" และคำว่า πλατύς (platýs) หมายถึง "แบนราบ" โดยมีความหมายถึง ลักษณะของครีบหลังที่อยู่จนเกือบสุดปลายหาง และพฤติกรรมที่มักว่ายน้ำแบนราบไปกับผิวน้ำ
เป็นปลาที่กระจายพันธุ์อย่างกว้างขวางในทวีปแอฟริกา พบทั้งในน้ำจืดและน้ำกร่อย มีความใกล้ชิดกับสกุล Aplocheilus หรือ ปลาหัวตะกั่ว ที่พบได้ในทวีปเอเชียรวมถึงประเทศไทย มีจุดเด่น คือ ส่วนหัวด้านบนมีจุดกลมเล็ก ๆ เห็นชัดเจน สันนิษฐานว่ามีไว้เพื่อเป็นประสาทรับสัมผัสความมืด-สว่าง ในช่วงเวลากลางวัน
เป็นปลาขนาดเล็ก มีสีสันสวยงาม จึงนิยมเลี้ยงกันเป็นปลาสวยงาม
