เกรโบ

เกรโบ (อังกฤษ: grebo) หรือ เกรโบร็อก (grebo rock) เป็นแนวเพลงย่อยของออลเทอร์นาทิฟร็อก ที่รวมอิทธิพลจาก พังก์ร็อก ดนตรีอิเล็กทรอนิกส์แดนซ์ ฮิปฮอปและไซเคเดลิก ดนตรีเกรโบมีอยู่ในช่วงปลายทศวรรษ 1980 และต้นทศวรรษ 1990 ก่อนที่กรันจ์และบริตป็อปจะเป็นที่นิยิมไปทั่วโลก

ประวัติ

คำว่า "grebo" แต่เดิมถูกใช้เป็นศัพท์สแลงที่อธิบายถึงคนขับมอเตอร์ไซค์และแฟนเพลงร็อกที่มีผมยาว "grebo" ได้ถูกนำมาใช้อีกครั้งโดยวง พอปวิลอีตอิตเซลฟ์ (Pop Will Eat Itself) เป็นตัวแทนของวัฒนธรรมย่อยสหราชอาณาจักรในช่วงปลายทศวรรษ 1980 และต้นทศวรรษ 1990 ส่วนใหญ่มักจะมีฐานความนิยมในอิงลิชมิดแลนด์ รวมถึงศูนย์กลางที่เมืองเบอร์มิงแฮม

วงเกรโบยุคแรกได้แก่ พอปวิลอีตอิตเซลฟ์ (ที่มีเพลงชื่อ "Oh Grebo I Think I Love You" และ "Grebo Guru") เดอะวันเดอร์สตัฟ (The Wonder Stuff) เน็ดส์อะตอมิกดัสต์บิน (Ned's Atomic Dustbin) คาเตอร์ยูเอสเอ็ม (Carter USM) เครซีเฮด (Crazyhead) เดอะบอมปาร์ตี (The Bomb Party) เดอะฮันเตอร์คลับ (The Hunters Club) สคัมพัปส์ (Scum Pups) และเกย์ไบเกอส์ออนแอซิด (Gaye Bykers On Acid) คำว่าเกรโบเป็นคำที่ใช้อธิบายถึงวง จีซัส โจนส์ (Jesus Jones) ที่ประสบความสำเร็จทั้งในสหรัฐอเมริกาและสหราชอาณาจักร
