ปฏิยานุพันธ์

ในแคลคูลัส ปฏิยานุพันธ์ หรือ ปริพันธ์ไม่จำกัดเขต ของฟังก์ชัน f คือ ฟังก์ชัน F ซึ่งอนุพันธ์ของมันมีค่าเท่ากับฟังก์ชัน f เดิม ดังประโยคสัญลักษณ์ F ' = f กระบวนการแก้ปัญหาของปฏิยานุพันธ์ เรียกว่า การหาปฏิยานุพันธ์ (หรือ การหาปริพันธ์ไม่จำกัดเขต) และกระบวนการในทางตรงข้าม เรียกว่า การหาอนุพันธ์

สนามความชันของ F(x) = (x³/3)-(x²/2)-x+c แสดงให้เห็นวิธีจำนวนมากอย่างไม่จำกัดที่สามารถให้ผลลัพธ์ที่แตกต่างกันด้วยค่าคงที่ C

ตัวอย่าง

ฟังก์ชัน F(x) = x³/3 เป็นปฏิยานุพันธ์ของ f(x) = x² เพราะว่าอนุพันธ์ของ x³/3 คือ x² นอกจากนี้ เนื่องจากอนุพันธ์ของค่าคงตัวคือศูนย์ ทำให้ x³/3, x³/3 + 1, x³/3 − 2, ฯลฯ ต่างก็เป็นปฏิยานุพันธ์ของ f (x) จึงสรุปได้ว่า f (x) มีปฏิยานุพันธ์อยู่จำนวนมากมายไม่จำกัด เราจึงแทนปฏิยานุพันธ์ของ x² ด้วย F (x) = (x³ / 3) + C; เมื่อ C เป็นค่าคงที่ใดๆ เรียก C ว่าค่าคงตัวของการหาปริพันธ์ กราฟของปฏิยานุพันธ์ของ f (x) เกิดจากการแปลงในแนวตั้งซึ่งกันแหละกัน แต่ละตำแหน่งในแนวตั้งของกราฟขึ้นอยู่กับค่าคงตัว  C

ในฟิสิกส์ การหาปริพันธ์ของความเร่งทำให้ได้ความเร็วบวกกับค่าคงตัว ค่าคงตัวนี้ก็คือพจน์ความเร็วตั้งต้น ซึ่งจะหายไปเมื่อเราหาอนุพันธ์ของความเร็ว เพราะว่าอนุพันธ์ของพจน์ที่คงตัวมีค่าเป็นศูนย์ โดยมันจะเป็นเช่นเดิมเมื่อหาปริพันธ์และอนุพันธ์ของการเคลื่อนที่ (ตำแหน่ง ความเร็ว ความเร่ง และอื่น ๆ)

1. Antiderivatives are also called general integrals, and sometimes integrals. The latter term is generic, and refers not only to indefinite integrals (antiderivatives), but also to definite integrals. When the word integral is used without additional specification, the reader is supposed to deduce from the context whether it is referred to a definite or indefinite integral. Some authors define the indefinite integral of a function as the set of its infinitely many possible antiderivatives. Others define it as an arbitrarily selected element of that set.
