สกุลปลาไบเคอร์ หรือ สกุลปลาบิเชียร์ (อังกฤษ : Bichir, Dinosaur eel ) เป็นสกุล ของปลาน้ำจืด กระดูกแข็ง สกุลหนึ่ง ในชื่อสกุลว่า Polypterus วงศ์ปลาไบเคอร์ (Polypteridae)
จัดเป็นปลาที่มีวิวัฒนาการ เป็นของตัวเอง ต่างจากปลากระดูกแข็งในวงศ์ อื่น ๆ มีรูปร่างคลัยกับงู หรือกิ้งก่า ซึ่งเป็นสัตว์เลื้อยคลาน มากกว่าจะเป็นปลา มีเกล็ดขนาดใหญ่เห็นได้ชัดเจนเป็นแบบกานอยด์ หรือเกล็ดแบบสาก และสามารถหายใจได้โดยผ่านถุงลม แทนที่จะใช้ซี่กรองเหงือกเหมือนปลาในวงศ์อื่น ๆ
มีครีบทุกครีบที่แข็งแรงและเป็นเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะ ซึ่งใช้ในการเคลื่อนที่ใต้น้ำได้เป็นอย่างดี โดยมักจะหากินใต้น้ำ ในเวลากลางคืน กระจายพันธุ์อยู่ทั่วไปในทวีปแอฟริกา ทั้งแหล่งน้ำจืด และบริเวณที่เป็นน้ำกร่อย เช่น ปากแม่น้ำ
ปลาไบเคอร์ ชนิดที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลก คือ ปลาไบเคอร์ยักษ์ (Polypterus endlicheri congicus ) ซึ่งเป็นชนิดย่อย ของปลาไบเคอร์คองโก (P. endlicheri ) ที่เมื่อโตเต็มที่แล้วจะมีขนาดความยาวได้ถึงเกือบ 90 เซนติเมตร
ปลาไบเคอร์ทุกชนิดเป็นปลากินเนื้อเป็นอาหาร โดยจะกินอาหารได้แก่ สัตว์น้ำ ขนาดเล็ก เช่น ปลาต่าง ๆ เป็นอาหาร แต่ไม่ใช่เป็นปลาที่ดุร้ายก้าวร้าว จึงนิยมนำมาเลี้ยงกันเป็นปลาสวยงาม ได้รับความนิยมเป็นอย่างมาก ตัวผู้ จะมีครีบก้นที่ยาวแหลมกว่า และมีขนาดลำตัวที่ใหญ่กว่าปลาตัวเมียอย่างเห็นได้ชัด
ปลาไบเคอร์ทุกชนิดออกลูกเป็นไข่ โดยในครั้งนึงจะออกประมาณ 300 ฟอง และตัวอ่อนจะออกจากไข่ภายในระยะเวลา 4 วัน นับจากแม่ปลาวางไข่
การจำแนก สามารถจำแนกออกเป็น 2 กลุ่มใหญ่ ๆ คือ
กลุ่มที่มีกรามหรือขากรรไกรปากเล็ก และกรามบนยื่นยาวกว่ากรามล่าง หัวมีขนาดเล็ก
