การกวาดล้างใหญ่ (อังกฤษ: Great Purge) ความน่าสะพรึงกลัวครั้งใหญ่ (Great Terror) หรือ ปี 37 (Year of 37) เป็นการกดขี่ทางการเมืองในสหภาพโซเวียตช่วง ค.ศ. 1936–1938 โดยเป็นการกดขี่อย่างใหญ่หลวงต่อชาวนาที่ร่ำรวยซึ่งเรียกว่าคูลัค การกวาดล้างทางชาติพันธุ์ต่อชนกลุ่มน้อย การกวาดล้างพรรคคอมมิวนิสต์และข้าราชการ การกวาดล้างกลุ่มผู้นำกองทัพแดง การเฝ้าระวังโดยตำรวจเป็นวงกว้าง การสงสัยบุคคลว่าก่อวินาศกรรม การต่อต้านการปฏิวัติ การจำคุก และการประหารโดยพลการ เฉพาะการกดขี่แบบสตาลินที่ดำเนินในช่วง ค.ศ. 1937―1938 นั้น นักประวัติศาสตร์ประเมินว่า มีผู้เสียชีวิตงแต่ 950,000 คนไปจนถึง 1.2 ล้านคน

ในโลกตะวันตก คำว่า "ความน่าสะพรึงกลัวครั้งใหญ่" เป็นที่นิยมขึ้นเพราะหนังสือชื่อนั้นของโรเบิร์ต คอนเควสต์ ออกเผยแพร่ใน ค.ศ. 1968 ชื่อหนังสือดังกล่าวอิงมาจากชื่อเหตุการณ์ในประวัติศาสตร์ฝรั่งเศสที่เรียกสมัยแห่งความน่าสะพรึงกลัว

บทนำ
