ดาวซิ่ง

ดาวซิ่ง (อังกฤษ: dowsing) เป็นวิธีการพยากรณ์แบบหนึ่งที่อ้างว่าสามารถระบุตำแหน่งของแหล่งน้ำใต้ดิน โลหะหรือแร่ธาตุที่ฝังอยู่ใต้ดิน อัญมณี น้ำมัน แม้กระทั่งหลุมฝังศพหรือกระทั่งการติดต่อกับสิ่งที่เหนือธรรมชาติอย่าง ผีหรือวิญญาณ โดยไม่มีการใช้อุปกรณ์ทางวิทยาศาสตร์มาช่วย

วัตถุแท่งรูปร่างคล้ายตัว Y หรือตัว L จะเรียกว่า แท่งดาวซิ่ง (อังกฤษ: dowsing rod) บางครั้งมีการนำมาใช้ประกอบการทำดาวซิ่งด้วย ส่วนผู้ทำนายหรือ dowser บางครั้งอาจใช้เครื่องมือลักษณะอื่น หรืออาจไม่ใช้เครื่องมือประกอบเลยก็ได้

วิธีการดาวซิ่งเริ่มปรากฏขึ้นในยุคฟื้นฟูเวทมนตร์ในเยอรมนี (ราวคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 15-16) และเป็นที่นิยมแพร่หลายในหมู่คนที่เลื่อมใสในลัทธิ Forteana หรือพวกที่เชื่อเรื่องรังสีในตัวมนุษย์ (radiesthesia) แม้ว่าจะไม่มีหลักการทางวิทยาศาสตร์ใดๆ ที่ยอมรับวิธีการนี้ และไม่มีหลักฐานทางวิทยาศาสตร์ใดๆ ยืนยันว่ามีประสิทธิผลจริง

อุปกรณ์ดาวซิ่งยุคใหม่

มีเครื่องมือจำนวนมากที่จัดว่าเป็นแท่งดาวซิ่งแบบ "ไฮเทค" ที่เข้ามาทำการค้ากับกิจการตำรวจและการทหาร แต่ไม่มีเครื่องมือใดที่ยอมรับว่าใช้งานได้อย่างมีประสิทธิผลจริง อุปกรณ์ที่โดดเด่นในจำพวกนี้ได้แก่ ADE 651, Sniffex, และ GT200 ทางการสหรัฐอเมริกาได้ทำการศึกษาและออกประกาศเตือนให้ระวังการจัดซื้อ "อุปกรณ์ตรวจจับระเบิดปลอม" เมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1999

ตัวอย่างอุปกรณ์:

• ห้องทดลอง Sandia National Laboratories ทำการทดสอบระบบ MOLE ผลิตโดยบริษัท Global Technical ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ที่เมือง Kent ประเทศอังกฤษ และพบว่าไม่มีประสิทธิผล

• ADE 651 เป็นอุปกรณ์ผลิตโดยบริษัท ATSC จากประเทศอังกฤษ มีการใช้งานแพร่หลายโดยตำรวจอิรักในการใช้ตรวจหาระเบิด มีคนจำนวนมากที่ไม่เห็นด้วยกับการใช้งานเครื่องมือนี้ และยืนยันว่า ADE 651 ล้มเหลวในการป้องกันเหตุระเบิดหลายครั้งในอิรัก วันที่ 22 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2553 กรรมการบริษัท ATSC คือนายจิม แมคคอร์มิค ถูกจับกุมในฐานะผู้ต้องสงสัยการฉ้อโกงโดยนำเสนอสิ่งที่ไม่เป็นความจริง โดยที่ก่อนหน้านั้นรัฐบาลอังกฤษได้ประกาศห้ามการส่งออกอุปกรณ์ ADE 651

• SNIFFEX ปรากฏในรายงาน United States Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal ซึ่งระบุว่า "อุปกรณ์ตรวจจับระเบิดแบบมือถือ SNIFFEX ใช้การไม่ได้"

• EK9 (หรือ EK-9) GT200 อุปกรณ์ตรวจจับระเบิดอีกชนิดหนึ่งที่ใช้หลักการดาวซิ่ง

• GT200 ได้รับการทดสอบโดยคณะกรรมการอันมีตัวแทนจากกระทรวงวิทยาศาสตร์ประเทศไทย เป็นแกนนำ ปรากฏผลการทดสอบ สามารถตรวจพบวัตถุที่ต้องการได้เพียง 4 ครั้ง จากการทดสอบ 20 ครั้ง อันนำไปสู่การสรุปผลการทดสอบได้ว่า อุปกรณ์ GT200 ซึ่งใช้หลักการดาวซิ่ง ไม่สามารถทำการตรวจหาวัตถุระเบิด หรือวัตถุอันตรายอื่น ได้ตามที่กล่าวอ้าง
