ฟังก์ชันตรีโกณมิติผกผัน

ในวิชาคณิตศาสตร์ ฟังก์ชันตรีโกณมิติผกผัน (บางครั้งเรียกว่า ฟังก์ชันอาร์ก) เป็นฟังก์ชันผกผันของฟังก์ชันตรีโกณมิติ ที่กำหนดโดเมนให้เหมาะสม) ประกอบด้วย ฟังก์ชันผกผันของฟังก์ชันไซน์ โคไซน์ แทนเจนต์ โคแทนเจนต์ เซแคนต์ และฟังก์ชันโคเซแคนต์ ใช้สำหรับหาค่ามุมจากค่าอัตราส่วนตรีโกณมิติที่ให้มา ฟังก์ชันตรีโกณมิติผกผันนี้ใช้กันอย่างกว้างขวางในวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ การเดินเรือ ฟิสิกส์ และเรขาคณิต

สัญกรณ์

มีหลายสัญกรณ์ด้วยกันที่ใช้สำหรับฟังก์ชันตรีโกณมิติผกผัน หลักเกณฑ์การใช้สัญกรณ์ที่ใช้มากที่สุด คือ การตั้งชื่อฟังก์ชันตรีโกณมิติผกผันโดยใช้คำอุปสรรค arc- (อ่านว่า อาร์ก) เช่น arcsin(x), arccos(x), arctan(x) เป็นต้น โดยบทความนี้จะใช้หลักเกณฑ์นี้ในการเรียกฟังก์ชันดังกล่าว หากใช้หน่วยวัดมุมเป็นเรเดียน มุม θ เรเดียนจะมีค่าเหมือนกับค่าอาร์ก ที่ความยาวของค่าอาร์กนั้นมีค่าเท่ากับ rθ เมื่อ r คือ รัศมีของวงกลม ดังนั้น ในวงกลมหนึ่งหน่วย "ค่าอาร์ก ที่มีค่าโคไซน์ของค่าอาร์กนั้นมีค่าเท่ากับ x" จะมีค่าเท่ากับ "ค่ามุม ที่ค่าโคไซน์ของมุมนั้นมีค่าเท่ากับ x" เพราะว่า ความยาวของค่าอาร์กของวงกลมในหน่วยเรเดียนมีค่าเท่ากับขนาดของมุมในหน่วยเรเดียน ทำนองเดียวกัน ในการเขียนภาษาโปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์ ฟังก์ชันตรีโกณมิติผกผันมักจะเรียกว่า asin, acos, atan
