ปลาตะเพียนลายหมากรุก (อังกฤษ : Checker barb, Checkered barb, Checkerboard barb ; ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์ : Oliotius oligolepis ) ปลาน้ำจืดชนิดหนึ่ง ในวงศ์ปลาตะเพียน (Cyprinidae)
ถูกบรรยายทางวิทยาศาสตร์ครั้งแรกเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1853 โดยเก็บตัวอย่างต้นแบบแรก ได้จากทะเลสาบมานินเจา บนเกาะสุมาตรา ของอินโดนีเซีย จัดเป็นปลาเพียงชนิดเดียวในสกุล Oliotius ซึ่งเป็นสกุลที่ตั้งขึ้นมาเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2013 แทนที่สกุลเดิม คือ Puntius Barbus โดยใช้ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์ว่า Barbus oligolepis ซึ่งแท้จริงแล้วเป็นปลาคนละชนิดกัน ในชนิดนี้เป็นปลาที่มีถิ่นกำเนิดในตุรกี )
มีลักษณะ คือ มีเกล็ดขนาดใหญ่ เกล็ดในแนวด้านข้างลำตัวมีจำนวน 17 เกล็ด เป็นเกล็ดที่มีลักษณะเป็นท่อเกล็ดเพียง 6-7 เกล็ด ด้านข้างของจะงอยปากจะมีติ่งเนื้อขนาดเล็กกระจายบริเวณด้านข้าง ก้านครีบแข็งมีขอบด้านท้ายเรียบ มีหนวดบริเวณขากรรไกรเฉพาะคู่สุดท้าย ริมฝีปากบาง
มีขนาดยาวเต็มที่ประมาณ 5 เซนติเมตร โดยตัวผู้มีสีที่เข้มกว่าตัวเมียโดยเฉพาะบริเวณด้านหลัง กระจายพันธุ์ในแหล่งน้ำเฉพาะ บนเกาะสุมาตราของอินโดนีเซีย เช่น ห้วย, แม่น้ำ, ทะเลสาบ โดยจะอาศัยอยู่ในน้ำที่มีค่าความเป็นกรดเป็นด่าง (pH) ค่อนข้างเป็นกรด คือ ค่า pH ประมาณ 6 และอุณหภูมิอยู่ระหว่าง 20-25 องศาเซลเซียส
นิยมเลี้ยงเป็นปลาสวยงาม เช่นเดียวกับปลาชนิดอื่น ๆ ที่มีลักษณะใกล้เคียงกัน ปัจจุบันได้มีการนำเข้าและถูกปล่อยแพร่พันธุ์ในแหล่งน้ำธรรมชาติในหลายประเทศของอเมริกากลางและอเมริกาใต้ เช่น โคลอมเบีย เหมือนเช่นปลาชนิดอื่นที่มีลักษณะใกล้เคียงกัน
