ฟิสิกส์อะตอม

ฟิสิกส์อะตอม (อังกฤษ: Atomic physics) เป็นสาขาหนึ่งของฟิสิกส์ ซึ่งศึกษาอะตอมอย่างเป็นระบบเดี่ยวที่ประกอบด้วยอิเล็กตรอนและนิวเคลียสอะตอม เริ่มแรกนั้นสาขานี้เกี่ยวข้องกับการเรียงตัวของอิเล็กตรอนรอบนิวเคลียสและกระบวนการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่เกิดจากการเรียงตัวนี้

ฟิสิกส์อะตอมจะเกี่ยวข้องกับพลังงานนิวเคลียร์และระเบิดปรมาณูอยู่บ่อยครั้ง แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม นักฟิสิกส์ก็ได้กำหนดข้อแตกต่างระหว่างฟิสิกส์อะตอม ซึ่งมองอะตอมว่าเป็นระบบของอิเล็กตรอนและนิวเคลียส กับฟิสิกส์นิวเคลียร์ ซึ่งสนใจแต่นิวเคลียสอะตอมเพียงอย่างเดียว
