ภาษาคอปติก

ภาษาคอปติก (คอปติก: ϯⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉⲙⲛ̀ⲭⲏⲙⲓ, timetremənkhēmi) เป็นตระกูลของภาษาถิ่นที่เกี่ยวข้องอย่างใกล้ชิด ซึ่งสืบเชื้อสายมาจากภาษาอียิปต์โบราณ และชาวอียิปต์ใช้ในอดีต คอปติกถูกแทนที่โดยภาษาอาหรับอียิปต์ในฐานะภาษาพูดหลักของอียิปต์หลังจากการพิชิตอียิปต์ของชาวมุสลิม ถึงแม้ว่าจะยังคงใช้มาจนถึงปัจจุบันในฐานะภาษาพิธีกรรมของคริสตจักรคอปติก นวัตกรรมด้านไวยากรณ์ การออกเสียง และคำยืมภาษากรีกที่หลั่งไหลเข้ามา ทำให้แยกความแตกต่างของชาวคอปติกจากยุคก่อนหน้าของภาษาอียิปต์ มันเขียนด้วยอักษรคอปติก ซึ่งเป็นรูปแบบดัดแปลงของอักษรกรีก โดยมีตัวอักษรเพิ่มเติมอีกหลายตัวที่ยืมมาจากอักษรดีโมติกอียิปต์
