พระพาหุพลี

พระพาหุพลี (อังกฤษ: Bahubali) เป็นหนึ่งในเทพที่ได้รับการเคารพอย่างสูงในศาสนาเชน ท่านเป็นบุตรของพระอาทินาถ ผู้เป็นตีรถังกรองค์แรกของศาสนาเชน และเป็นน้องชายของพระภารตจักรวรรติน ตามตำนานเล่าว่าท่านทำสมาธิอย่างแน่วแน่ ไม่เคลื่อนไหวร่างกายเป็นเวลาหนึ่งปีในท่ายืนตรง (เรียกว่า kayotsarga) ทำให้มีพืชต่าง ๆ เติบโตและมาเกาะเกี่ยวขาของท่าน ลักษณะนี้สามารถสังเกตได้ชัดเจนในรูปเคารพของท่าน หลังท่านทำสมาธิมาได้หนึ่งปีเต็ม ท่านบรรลุภาวะเกวลญาณ

นามอื่น ๆ ของท่าน คือ "กามเตศวร" (Kammateswara) และ "โคมเตศวร" (Gommateshwara) ตามชื่อของรูปปั้นโคมเตศวร (Gommateshwara Statue) ซึ่งสร้างขึ้นในจักรวรรดิคงคาตะวันตก (Western Ganga Dynasty) โดย พระเจ้าจาวุนทรายะ รูปปั้นนี้มีความสูง 57 ฟุต (17 เมตร) มีลักษณะเป็นรูปปั้นแบบโมโนลิธ ปัจจุบันตั้งอยู่ในอาณาเขตของ ศรวนเวลโคล, อำเภอฮัสซาน, รัฐกรณาฏกะ ประเทศอินเดีย
