พระปารศวนาถ

พระปารศวนาถ (Pārśvanāth) หรือ พระปารศวะ (Pārśva) และ พระปารัศ (Paras) เป็นตีรถังกร (ศาสดา) องค์ที่ 23 จาก 24 องค์ ของศาสนาเชน พระปารศวนาถเป็นตีรถังกรองค์แรกที่มีการจดบันทึกไว้ว่าเป็นบุคคลที่มีตัวตนจริงในเชิงประวัติศาสตร์ เอกสารของศาสนาเชนระบุว่าพระองค์มีชีวิตในช่วง 900 - 800 ปี ก่อน ค.ศ. ในขณะที่นักประวัติศาสตร์บางกลุ่มมองว่าเป็นช่วง 800 - 700 ปีก่อน ค.ศ. พระปารศวนาถมีชีวิตอยู่ราว 350 ปีก่อนสมัยของพระมหาวีระ ตีรถังกรองค์สุดท้ายและองค์ปัจจุบัน พระองค์เป็นหนึ่งในสี่ตีรถังกรที่ได้รับการเคารพสูงสุดในศาสนาเชน ได้แก่ พระฤษภนาถ, พระมหาวีระ, พระปารศวนาถ และ พระเนมินาถ พระองค์สิ้นชีวิตที่บนเขาปารศนาถ (มธุพัน, รัฐฌารขัณฑ์) ในลุ่มแม่น้ำคงคา ปัจจุบันเป็นที่ตั้งของศิขรจี หมู่เชนสถานที่สำคัญ ประติมาณวิทยาของพระปารศวนาถมีลักษณะเด่นคือมีพญานาคปรกศีรษะพระองค์ การบูชาพระองค์จึงมักรวมถึงธราเนนทรา และ พัทมาวตี (เทวะและเทวีแห่งนาคของศาสนาเชนตามลำดับ)
