ภาษาโควาร์ (کھووار‬) จัดอยู่ในภาษากลุ่มดาร์ดิก มีผู้พูดหลักในชิตรัล ประเทศปากีสถานทางตะวันตกฉียงเหนือ ในหุบเขายาซินและคูปิส ในคลิกิส บางส่วนของสวัตตอนบน เป็นภาษาที่สองในคลิกิสและฮันซา เชื่อกันว่ามีผู้พูดภาษาโควาร์จำนวนเล็กน้อยในอัฟกานิสถาน จีน อินเดีย ทาจิกิสถานและในกรุงอิสตันบูล

ภาษาโควาร์มีลักษณะของภาษาตระกูลอินโด-ยุโรเปียน อย่างชัดเจน ตัวอย่างเช่นการใช้สรรพนาม

• ฉันเป็น = asum
• คุณเป็น = asus
• เขาเป็น = asor
• พวกเราเป็น = asusi
• พวกคุณเป็น =asumi
• พวกเขาเป็น = asuni

ภาษาโควาร์ได้รับอิทธิพลจากภาษากลุ่มอิหร่านมากกว่าภาษาอื่นในกลุ่มดาร์ดิกด้วยกัน แต่มีหน่วยคำจากภาษาสันสกฤตน้อยกว่าภาษาชินาหรือภาษาโกฮิสถาน Colonel Biddulph เป็นชาวตะวันตกรุ่นแรก ๆ ที่ศึกษาภาษาโควาร์และกล่าวว่าภาษาโควาร์สืบทอดมาจากภาษาอเวสตะ ภาษาเปอร์เซียโบราณ และภาษาสันสกฤต เขียนด้วยอักษรอาหรับแบบภาษาอูรดู
